Acting Wiser: A post about doing what you love.

Updated: Aug 14

I love acting. I accept the fact that my kind of mind demands work that it loves in order to function well. Acting wisely is what I am ready to demonstrate now.

I surrender.

I surrender to the fact that I love to act.

I work.

I have the energy, the focus and the perseverance to work tirelessly, but only on stage.

I confess that it is the light of other people's attention that brings me to life. Is that the secret? Is that what spirit and science have been trying to teach us all along? Is it attention or observation that brings everything to light?

When I write for the stage or social media platforms, I am most inspired by the people I love, wherever they may be now.

My work expresses all kinds of love:

for family, friendship, romance, nature, and everything beautiful, true, funny, and even frightening.

The acts on stage or screen can frighten or horrify us, but there is relief and even grace in the return to safety when the curtain falls.

The curtain will fall on my physical body one day. Now that I'm 62, I am in what I call my "third act." In these years after 60, I am acting wiser. I want more wisdom, so I am acting, singing, dancing, and playing my way into it.

For almost 20 years, I've been publicly sharing my experience with physical transformation.

Methods of physical transformation have radically changed for millions of people now that there are effective drugs for weight loss.

I admit that I'm proud of the fact that I became healthy with a permanent lifestyle change consisting of proper thinking, eating, assistance, and movement. Still, if GLP-1 drugs had been available when I was struggling and suffering with obesity, I would've gladly used them.

I'm still sugar, starch, and seed oil free because of the physical and mental distress they immediately cause when I try to take them back: even in small amounts. I still do Sugar Freedom but I've stopped trying to sell it. Now I offer demonstrations of my ketogenic lifestyle instead of recommendations for other people to follow one.

My work now is acting wiser than I did before. It's about sharing what I love, not consuming what I crave.

I love, acting singing, dancing, and playing on stage and screen. Now on social media platforms I can experience abundant happiness without harm. I have an audience that I can reach easily, and they can stay or scroll as they see fit.

The early emotional pain that drove me to seek relief from sugar, cigarettes, shopping and Chardonnay are healing day by day. It is acting wiser that fills the empty space they used to occupy. After all, "Nature, abhors a vacuum," almost as much as I abhor being bored.

Whatever my problems are, they can be addressed and managed by acting wiser, so that is what I intend to do.

In 2013 I published the first edition of Keep the Change: Transform Your Body for Good, and that introduced the "Team Technique."

The Team Technique was, Thinking, Eating, Allies and Movement. Going forward in this blog, I'm going to be taking each of those areas and exploring how they can be used to manage and direct what we do in order to be healthy, and have the energy to do the things that we love.

"Keep the Change: Transform your Body for Good 2nd. Edition," is available on Amazon Kindle right now. I'll put the link below. Although it's been over 10 years since it was published, when I look at the method and the success of my readers I still agree with the ideas I expressed back then. Now I'm going to apply the TEAM Technique to acting wiser. I hope you'll join me on this journey.
